Festival of the spread and history of Strangolagalli

Strangolagalli owes its name from the German root and means circular castrum, Borgo, defended by a wooden fence. The roots of these trunks are ancient and it seems that they have nestled in the folds of the faces of the inhabitants. Ciociaria is an area with great traditions, located in the south of Lazio. Its name represents the use of Ciocie, that is typical footwear, made with a strip of leather and laces. The vocation, as well as landscaping is agricultural and pastoralism is still practiced. Strangolagalli hosts the festival of spread, leavened focaccia, fried and topped with vegetables, cheeses or cured meats. During the festival there are also dances with popular music, to the sound of the accordion. The history of Strangolagalli is marked by the arrival of a Tyrolean monk, Kofler, in 1700. He brought the art of wood carving to the village which is still practiced with the roots of the olive tree. The vivacity and feminine initiative that one encounters in Ciociaria has been the subject of mystical beliefs.
