The lakes of Val d'Ultimo: a typical Tyrolean mountain landscape

Val d'Ultimo is a valley that extends for 40 km in the western area of South Tyrol and ends in the municipality of Lana. It is a traditional Tyrolean valley full of ancient farms, green meadows, dense forests and high mountains. In this case, however, let's go to the discovery of three of the many lakes it holds: Lago Verde, Lago Pesce (or Lago dei Pescatori) and Lago Lungo. The presence of lakes, on which there are always dams, makes the mountain trails even more suggestive. Summer tourism in the area is in fact strictly linked to nature, trekking and the discovery of the paths that cross the valley. The area is equipped with shelters and other services for visitors. The routes are of varying difficulty and it is often possible to bring even the little ones. Lago Lungo is located at 2340 meters on the plateau 'Auf die Plöder', along the path that leads to Monte Collecchio. From it comes the Valsura torrent which, crossing the whole valley, then enters the Adige river. It is a natural alpine lake. The Green Lake is instead located at 2529 meters, and is an artificial lake. All around the stretch of water there are high mountains, including: the Cima Fontana Bianca (3253 m), the Cima Sternai (3443 m), the Cima Sternai Meridionale (3385 m) and the Gioveretto (3439 m).
