Benetutti: the thermal baths and the archaeological remains in a valley of uncontaminated nature

In the province of Sassari, on the slopes of the Goceano plateau, lies Benetutti, a town rich in history. It has very ancient origins, and in fact nuraghi, domus de janas and buildings dating back to the Neolithic period are scattered throughout the territory that testify to it. In one of the domus there is a rock painting, the so-called 'labyrinth', still mysterious due to its origins. The place is very famous for its natural spas, scattered around the area and also linked to the origin of its name. In fact, it seems that the name derives from the toponym 'bena de Tudi' (vein / source of Tudi) with reference to the thermal springs. Some collection points of the thermal waters of San Saturnino are still as the Romans left them. Among the numerous religious places we remember: the parish church of Sant'Elena, which preserves a retable from the 16th century attributed to the Master of Ozieri and defined as an original example of Sardinian Renaissance art; the church of San Salvatore, the oldest; the country church of Santa Barbara. The uncontaminated nature of the area allows different paths and walks both on foot and by bicycle, given the mainly flat terrain.
