Reggello, Florence

We are in the province of Florence, in Reggello, a village that has been inhabited since ancient times, as evidenced by the writings of the tenth century. Changed its original name, Castelvecchio di Cascia, so called when it was born as a market place between Via del Casentino and Cassia vetus, it became Reggello thanks to the Grand Duke Leopoldo in 1773. This small town is rich in religious and historical buildings, castles and towers and natural areas. Of good food, such as the typical Cecino Rosa, the zolfino bean and of course the extra virgin olive oil, which is celebrated every year at the end of October in the Review. It is also possible to visit the historic oil mills. Its Abbey of Vallombrosa of 1036, finished almost 700 years later, is very beautiful and still retains all its splendor. The Pieve di San Pietro, rich in sculptures and its structural elegance. The Sammezzano Castle, with its English park and its famous Moorish aspect to be used in various films and to stay in contact with nature, the Biogenetic State Natural Reserve, on the slopes of Pratomagno which offers hiking trails and hosts the tallest tree in Italy.
