Sicily is all beautiful, famous for its paradisiacal beaches, it also hosts a thousand-year history that still remains tangible in its cities. Enna, is one of these, the highest capital of Italy, defined impregnable for all those peoples who in the past tried to conquer it, precisely because of its geographical position: the historic center has an altitude of 931 meters. Enna also boasts another record: it is in fact the only Sicilian capital not to be bathed by the sea. This feature has meant that tourism shifted to a purely cultural and landscape level. A must is the historic center and the Cathedral, a Gothic-looking church with various artistic influences in which marble is the master, together with the beautiful wooden ceilings. At the top of the town, higher than the historic center, is the Castello di Lombardia, also famous for being the seat of the theater closest to the stars. Of considerable value is the presence in the city of the Kore University, dedicated to the mythological figure of the same name. Among the typical gastronomic products to taste we remember the Piacenza Ennese, a type of pecorino, recognized with the DOP mark.
