Things to see and do in Guardiagrele

Guardiagrele is a village that offers many ideas for visits even for families. There are sacred buildings of great historical and artistic interest, such as the cathedral church of Santa Maria Maggiore, all built with Maiella stone. Very interesting is also the church dedicated to San Francesco, which has an internal cloister that houses the Museum of Costume and Traditions. Inside you can find many objects from the past, even if in reality taking a walk around Guardiagrele is already like taking a step back in time. In fact, still today there are artisan workshops where iron and copper are worked just as they used to do in the past. It is no coincidence that this town was defined by Gabriele D'Annunzio 'terrace of Abruzzo': on the clearest days the gaze sweeps up to the Tremiti islands. After having walked a lot, you can also indulge in a small sin of gluttony: the most delicious sweets of the place are called 'sise delle monache', or tre monti, and are rich in cream and powdered sugar.
