We cross the Aspromonte.
(Sentiero num.102) Genre:
nature
The path now traveled by trekking lovers was the way to cross the mountains from the Ionian Sea to the Tyrrhenian Sea. To escape attacks from the sea, the Greek colonists from Delia went up the Aspromonte to live in Paracorio. This nucleus together with that of Pedovoli met in Delianuova. The mule track allowed commercial exchanges between the towns of the hinterland and reciprocal visits during the patronal feasts. The path runs along the rocky walls halfway up, meeting the remains of support for transhumance and the pass path. The park offers very different environments and a great variety of wild animals. The wild cat, marten, stone marten, badger and weasel live in the woods of oaks, firs and beeches. Going up in altitude, the maquis cloaks the mountain walls in rock gardens and the view borders on the steep and inaccessible semi-arched ridges that stand in the way, up to an altitude of 2000 m. Unfortunately, the signs are not always optimal and entering the Park requires a good study of the maps and a lot of passion.
