In the middle of the mountains of the Giudicarie area, in one of the Buse, the Basins of glacial origin that dot the territory north of Lake Garda, is Tione di Trento, a town of about 3600 inhabitants in the province of Trentino. The village is located in the center of the Busa di Tione, a basin strategically positioned between the Val di Chiese, the Giudicarie Valley and the Val Rendena, on the road to the Adamello-Brenta Park and for this reason a starting point for excursions and climbs. In the Middle Ages the town was one of the seven parish churches that enjoyed political-administrative autonomy under the control of the Prince-Bishop of Trento. At the end of the nineteenth century a fire lasting more than a week almost completely destroyed it, but the center was able to rise again in a short time as evidenced by beautiful buildings dating back to the end of the last century that show spectacular friezes on the facades. Among the symbolic buildings, in the historic center there is the parish of the village, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta and San Giovanni Battista, dating back to the eighth century, with a structure in different architectural genres superimposed due to the numerous renovations that have taken place over time. If you stop even for a short time in Tione, a stop in one of the many delicatessens is almost mandatory to taste Zelten, a local specialty, a dessert based on dried fruit, such as pine nuts, walnuts, dried figs, almonds and sultanas. , embellished with candied fruit, an irresistible delicacy as well as being regional excellence.
