Castelfidardo, town of music

Hidden in the hills a stone's throw from the Conero Riviera, the splendid town of Castelfidardo peeps out, the birthplace of the accordion, a folkloric musical instrument of the Italian tradition. Here, in 1860, they fought for the unification of Italy, leaving an important historical mark on these places. Today, that same land once trampled and soaked in the blood of our compatriots, belongs to the Ferretti Foundation which has, through a work of redevelopment and enhancement of the territory, restored value and beauty to the entire forest within which you can walk to appreciate the variety of flora and fauna species. The work forged by the sculptor Vito Pardo located inside the park is dedicated to the memory of that epic battle. Legend has it that someone, among the military troops, had an accordion with him and that it was found posthumously. The instrument aroused the interest of a certain Paolo Soprani, a local farmer, who, intrigued by its structure and fascinated by the sound it emitted, began to reproduce several copies, decreeing an unexpected success. Three years after the battle of Castelfidardo, the accordion experienced an unstoppable rise, to the point of becoming a symbol of trade and industry in the Marche region, with thousands of specimens exported all over the world. An entire museum is dedicated to the accordion, which decreed the unexpected fortune of this small village, but its temple remains the Pigini industry, where production continues today along with that of other musical instruments. The most important city event could only be dedicated to the accordion, the Pif, a symbolic event as well as a music festival that draws the attention not only of fans of this art, but also of the most demanding palates, thanks to the rich variety of products agricultural to taste accompanied by melodies performed by the best musicians. Castelfidardo is a magical town, which welcomes on the notes of art, beauty and history.
