Rodi Garganico

Rodi Garganico is a town in the province of Foggia in the Gargano National Park. One of the most characteristic villages of the province, known for its fabulous beaches with fine sand and crystal clear water. It was born as a Greek colony and then passed under Roman rule due to its strategic position; over the centuries it has been the subject of numerous looting, destruction and reconstruction. Today it winds through picturesque alleys from which you can admire the beaches. Of the houses the characteristic chimneys stand out. The territory is scattered with numerous religious buildings: - the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Libera, full of charm, inside you can admire the table of the virgin with the child and the Sacro Sasso, on which, according to the legend, the icon after the boat on which it was transported had to stop due to the strong wind; - the Mother Church of San Nicola di Mira with a particular quadrangular bell tower that rises in the inhabited center; -the church of San Pietro in which ancient wooden statues and a valuable organ are preserved; - the church of the Holy Spirit which was the first Capuchin convent in the Gargano, located on a hill, whose main altar houses the painting of Pentecost. Rhodes boasts a long gastronomic tradition, one of the characteristic events is the Orange Festival, which since 1950 has seen decorating the historic center with lemons and different varieties of oranges grown throughout the territory. In fact, citrus fruits have been for many years the main source of income for the city that exported them all over the world, with numerous awards.
