Caltagirone

We are located in Caltagirone, Sicily, in a place rich in traditions and history, located on a relief of the Erei mountains, between the plain of Gela and the plain of Catania, recognized by UNESCO, for its unique beauties, heritage cities of humanity. The origin of the city, very ancient, is testified by numerous numismatic, arctic and ceramic finds, found above all in the area of the necropolis. In the mountain district of Caltagirone, we find a necropolis of about two thousand tombs, ascribed between the eighteenth and tenth centuries BC. Christ, we find two tombs with a particular beehive shape that contained many ceramics to contain water and honey. We find the remains in the museums of Syracuse and Caltagirone, in the Museo Della Ceramica, where we find an archaeological heritage of uses and customs of the inhabitants of these first villages, as well as their extraordinary ceramic art.
