A walk in the labyrinth of Pomarico

It spirals along the coast of the hill and shows itself perched as if to defend itself from the conquerors who have crossed the Materese valleys over the centuries. Two citizens take us with them climbing infinite levels of stairways, up to the promontory where some ruins of the castle are visible and, around it, the oldest houses that formed the first inhabited nucleus. There a rocky cactus garden has been set up where it is possible to admire a vast panorama of the valley and the roofs of the Borgo which seem to fit together. You go down in more recent times to admire the marquis palace of the early eighteenth century, the civic tower with the clock, the churches and bell towers with the bells above the roof that decorate the sky. We walk through the streets and underground passages, between alleys and market squares that suddenly open up. The promoters give us a greeting, promising tourist improvement of a place that appears framed within a journey through time.
