Small village on Lake Orta: Pella and its charm even in bad weather
Where: Pella (Pella) Genre:
fun
Pella is one of the oldest villages overlooking Lake Orta. Located in the province of Novara, in the western area of the lake, with steep granite hills behind it and the sanctuary of the Madonna del Sasso, and in front of the island of San Giulio. The place, very suggestive, lends itself to a relaxing trip. It will be possible to admire the small port, the colorful houses overlooking the water with the medieval tower dating back to the medieval era, and other places of interest: the parish church dedicated to Sant'Albino Vescovo which is located in the central square; the Church of San Defendente in the hamlet of Ronco Sotto; the oratory of San Giulio, in the thick of the wood in the hamlet of Ronco Sopra, decorated with 15th century frescoes; until 1907 near the Pellino stream there was a factory that produced paper for the Sonzogno publishing house and for the newspaper 'Il Century', now a residential area. The donkey's back bridge that surmounts the Pellino stream, near the parish church, is very impressive.
