fun useful information
Famous all over the world for its characteristic trulli, UNESCO heritage since 1996, Alberobello is an Apulian town in the province of Bari near the hills of the Murgia. Not all buildings are trulli, but most of the city is built in this way. The Monti district is the most characteristic and today the trulli are not only houses but often inside them there are restaurants, hotels or other businesses. Inside this district you can see the Siamese Trullo, characterized by a continuous double dome roof. Today it is a tourist attraction, it seems that it is one of the oldest trulli of the place. Most of the trulli have esoteric symbols on the roof, while the pinnacle on the dome seems to be built in a particular way as a signature of the builder. The underlying part is always painted in white, which contrasts the color of the stone creating an evocative and characteristic glance. The largest is the Trullo Sovrano, which today hosts cultural events and concerts, and has become a house museum. In addition to tourism, handicrafts are widespread, mainly textiles and food and wine products.
