Marsa, city of the landing of the Thousand and more

Today we are going to discover the Sicilian city famous for the landing of the Thousand, Marsala. We immediately enter the town and first of all we go to visit the Monument of the Thousand, dedicated to the Thousand of the famous Landing. We then enter the heart of the city, passing the Porta Garibaldi. In the historic center, despite the town was founded by the Phoenicians. We have the opportunity to visit many palaces and churches in the Baroque style, such as the Church of the Addolorata. About ten kilometers from Marsala we finally go to visit the Stagnone lagoon, where the famous salt pans and the salt museum are located. Inside the lagoon there are several islands; the only one that can be visited is that of San Pantaleo, discovered by the English archaeologist Whitaker and inside which there is a museum, the Whitaker Museum, in which, inside, all the archaeological finds found during the excavations are kept.
