The spectacular Bergamo

Bergamo, the capital of the Lombard province, is one of the most beautiful and perhaps underrated cities in Italy. It has 115,000 inhabitants. It is divided into two parts: the upper, monumental city and the lower, modern and commercial city; joined together by a funicular. The visit cannot fail to start from Piazza Duomo, a small but true open-air museum due to the quantity and density of works of art collected in a few meters. Let's start from the Duomo, from the nineteenth-century facade and the paintings by Tiepolo inside the seventeenth century. We pass to the spectacular Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, a complex Romanesque construction of the XII-XIII century, rich in artistic masterpieces. Following Palazzo della Reason, late 12th century, an ancient town hall and court under the Venetian period. In this regard, it should be noted that the numerous presence of Venetian lions scattered throughout the city certifies the close commercial and political link between the two cities.
