Among the wonders of Sassari

Today we are in Sardinia, in Sassari, the ancient capital of the Giudicato of Torres and then of the Sassari republic, university, archbishopric and branch of the court of appeal, the second largest city on the island by population. Let's go immediately to discover the places to visit! Let's start from the Basilica of the Holy Trinity of Saccargia, a church in Pisan Romanesque style, one of the most important achievements of this style in Sardinia. Inside the historic center instead, we admire the Cathedral of San Nicola, the main church of the religious life of the city, located in Piazza d'Italia, the main square of Sassari. At the center of the Monte Rosello valley, we meet the Rosello Fountain, historical architecture of Sassari, often identified as a symbol of the city. We then enter the Church of Santa Maria di Betlem, located with the adjoining convent of the conventual friars, in Piazza Santa Maria. The temple is dedicated to the Virgin. Still, we visit the archaeological museum of Sanna and the National Picture Gallery, the historical museum of the Brigade and the monumental cemetery, the Eugenio Tavolara handicraft pavilion, the former convent of Carmelo and the gardens of the former rural colony.
