At the foot of the Dolomites and surrounded by thick woods, we find Claut. This small village is located at 613 meters above sea level and is the borderland of the Valtellina. At the center of the village there is the main church of San Giorgio martire, whose structure dates back to 1600. Next to it there is a magnificent stone and brick bell tower, adorned on all sides by a large clock. The church has a single nave and in the center there is a particular altar: it is surrounded by a cloth that seems to want to protect it from any danger. On the road to enter Claut there is an old ancient house, built in stone, it has been recently renovated, becoming a testimony of the life of the past. Thanks to these testimonies we understand that the Clautians were, and still are today, skilled wood craftsmen. In ancient times, during the winter, men delighted in the creation of various wooden utensils which, subsequently, the woman took care of trading. The woman who carried out this activity was called 'sedonera'. The pride of Claut is certainly sport: both in winter and in summer, for young and old, for amateurs and experts. In the village there is also a well-stocked ice rink that favors the practice of many sports. Curling is certainly the favorite sport, even for the very young, who are part of a very strong and skilled team that participates in high-level competitions.
