One of the characteristics of Gordona, in the province of Sondrio (Lombardy), is that of being an ancient village centered on agriculture and livestock. Between the year 1600 and the year 1700, but also after the Second World War, there was a great migration by the inhabitants of Gordona due to hunger but also to a poor prospect of life. These inhabitants migrated to Naples, Palermo but also to abroad, to Australia. Those who moved to Southern Italy thus decided to set up a company that would pay homage, but also that would highlight the riches of the native territory, raising funds and donating them to the main church of Gordona, the church of San Martino. In this way Gordona was greatly enriched but in particular he was given a gift of various priceless treasures, namely the altar, together with monstrances, chalices and reliquaries recently placed in special cases to allow the visitor to admire the way in which Gordona remained in the heart of their inhabitants once they left reluctantly for reasons of force majeure.
