The territory between the municipalities of Moscufo, Pianella and Loreto Aprutino is known as the golden triangle. This is because in this area there are many olive trees that produce excellent oil with particular organoleptic characteristics. The oldest olive tree found in the Abruzzo region is found in the garden of the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere in Fossacesia, in the province of Chieti. It is 1700 years old. But also in Moscufo there is a noteworthy olive tree, which the inhabitants know well as it is located in a private farm not far from the town. This plant, a true green patriarch, is characterized by its monumental dimensions. In fact, it measures 12 meters in circumference, measured at the chest of a man, and its foliage covers an area of 20 square meters on the ground. Inside can be contained from 2 to 3 people. Its appearance is particular as it has four trunks that branch off from the ground. Given the age of the wood it was not possible to give a precise dating with dendrochronology, but it is thought that the tree is more than 500 years old.
