Castel San Pietro Terme is a town in the province of Bologna, on the border between Emilia and Romagna. Its symbolic monument is the Cassero dating back to 1199, the year the city was founded. As the name suggests, the town has been famous for its spas since ancient times and is considered one of the best places to live. Here you can make splendid excursions on foot and by bicycle and reach beautiful historic villages such as Varignana. In this hamlet of great value are the Church of San Lorenzo with its crypt. The eighteenth-century Palazzo di Varignana is also suggestive, currently used as a hotel. Around it there are suggestive lands cultivated with vineyards and olive groves. Local products of excellence are olive oil, honey and dairy products, in particular Squacquerone and Castel San Pietro cheese. Other typical dishes that you must try are tagliatelle, mutton chops and ladyfingers. A city that offers the visitor a very varied range of experiences that satisfies everyone's tastes.
