We are on the Tremiti Islands, in the province of Foggia, an archipelago of the Adriatic Sea, 22 km north of the Gargano promontory and 45 km east of Termoli. Let's go immediately to see which are the places that we cannot fail to visit. Let's start with the Scoglio della Vecchia, a large and suggestive yellow rock, of clayey nature, which is located between the islands of San Domino and that of San Nicola. An inlet divides it into two arms and gives it the shape of a sickle. It is uniform and smooth, due to the modeling on its sides caused by atmospheric and marine agents. It is devoid of vegetation, barren, and juts out into the sea like a spindle. We then move on to the San Domino lighthouse, located south-west of the island of San Domino, the largest of the archipelago of the Tremiti Islands, overlooking the sea and in an isolated position, at the end of Punta del Diavolo. There you can enjoy a breathtaking view, and in the immediate vicinity is the fascinating grotta delle Murene and its relaxing pine forest. The Badiali castle, an important defensive fortification that was used to repel external enemy attacks. The Abbey of Santa Maria a Mare, on the island of San Nicola, a monument of the Adriatic proto-Romanesque, which integrates features of Western European culture with that of Byzantine and Mediterranean culture. There are countless dives that project us into the wonderful marine world.
